Meet Our Coaches!
Allie & Darian Schmidt
Club Owners
Darian is the current head coach for SMU Men's & Women's Diving. He was an accomplished diver at the University of Indiana where he was an 8X NCAA All-American and represented Team USA at the 2015 World Championships, as well as other international Grand Prix appearances. In his 2 seasons with the Mustangs he is a 2 X American Conference coach of the year. He serves as the Head Coach for DMD.
Allie was a competitive gymnast who found the sport of diving like so many others, through injury! She fell in love with diving during high school and went on to dive at Western Kentucky University. Throughout high school & college Allie spent many of her summers training and coaching at diving camp.
Dan Pitts
Program Director & Head Coach
Dan was a diver for the SMU Mustangs from 2012-2016. During his time at SMU he received multiple team and conference awards including being a 3X NCAA Zone D qualifier, 2016 American Conference silver medalist, and recipient of the A.R. Barr Award recognizing his leadership, character, and dedication. Outside of the pool, Dan is the leader of Young Life College @ SMU. He has a heart for mentoring and developing students and athletes whether it be through coaching or Young Life.
Lilly Hinrichs
Assistant Coach
Lilly specialized in platform diving and was recruited by Stanford in high school. She was an NCAA All-American, 2x Olympic Trials qualifier, and one of the tallest female divers in the PAC-12 (currently standing at 6’1”). She coached Stanford Club Diving for 4 years while on campus (High Performance Group and Private Lessons) and focuses on perfecting basic skills / technique.
Kristian Ipsen
Assistant Coach
Kristian is originally from Northern California and competed in the 2012 London & 2016 Rio Olympics - he won a
bronze medal in the synchronized 3-meter event in 2012 and was a finalist in the men's 3-meter individual contest
in 2016 placing 5th. Kristian loves helping athletes with the challenging mental aspects of the sport and started an
online mentorship program last summer connecting youth athletes with Olympians.
